Family Reunited

No photos but just wanted to let folks know that Jess and Garin made it to Northampton last Friday. It's wonderful to have the family back together again. Garin is enjoying "Massa-tu-shus" so far and will be starting day camp next week. He has a bit of muscle weakness in his legs (like, he couldn't climb the ladder at the playground last weekend) and walks with a bit of a strange gait, but seems to be recovering very quickly and moving on after the accident. We'll take some pictures or video sometime soon.

Super-Cutie

Just some cute pictures for me (and you) to look at because I miss the kiddo.
One more week until he and Jess get to Massachusetts.

Cast Off!!!!!!!!!!!!

We thought everyone would be mad if we waited 4 weeks to post this one, so here's a photo tour of Garin's big day!

Garin in the X-ray waiting room

Garin in the cast room with his rubber glove friends, bunny and chicken.

Garin pretended the saw was the engine of the helicopter he was flying to Atlanta....here's the captain! Special thanks to Uncle Scott who assisted with many take-offs and landings by raising and lowering the table (while the hospital staff wasn't looking, of course).

Here's Garin after he made his final flight...he was really brave while Nurse Kim sawed through and cut off his cast.

And finally, here he is cast free!

Walking Movies

Garin got his cast off today!!!!
But before we see him cast-free, here are those walking videos I've promised:

Stage One: Holding onto something (May 9th)
Sorry, I did that thing again where I had the camera sideways, but you can figure it out.

Stage Two: Starting to let go for a few steps (May 17th)

Stage Three: Walking all over the place without holding onto anything! (May 27th)

Quick Update - Walking Videos Soon

Busy, busy, busy:

Mel left Charleston last Wednesday, arrived in Northampton on Friday, could not get internet and computer to play nicely until today, is trying to write the last chapter of her thesis, and started classes today. (She also has the camera with videos of Garin walking and really will get them downloaded and posted now that the internet works.)

Jess and Garin are still in Charleston. Garin is going to the doctor tomorrow and will (fingers crossed) get his cast off then. After a few days (fingers crossed again) of adjustment, they should be able to head north as well.
