Name that holiday . . .

Half-Partick's Day? St. Garin's Day? Something like that . . .
Garin is thrilled that so many people turned out to wear green and raise a glass to his 6 month birthday today. (though he was sad about the 4 year anniversary of the start of the war so he went to an anti-war rally in the morning)

To celebrate the day, he went to lunch at the Blue Rose cafe, a fabulous Irish restaurant here where we have taken him for most of his month-birthdays so far. We were joined by Great-great-aunt Eleanor (Nana's sister) and her neice Alison who are in town visiting.

4 more days until Austin . . .

Word of the day

Much to vegetarian Jess's consternation, Garin's first word seems to have been boeuf (French for "beef"). We speak to him in Spanish, German, Latin, and ancient Greek, yet he comes up with some French on his own. For beef, no less. He really is a Texan. (Or maybe he was just blowing spit bubbles.)

Picnic in the Park

Spring comes early in the south. We had a picnic with all our friends last week at this waterfront park in downtown Charleston. We even saw dolphins in the bay (but didn't get any on film, too bad).

Chris, Parissa, and Janine try to keep Garin interested in his toys instead of the bag of chips.

This is what Jarod, Kristin, Jennifer, Rocco, and Parissa look like from Garin's point of view.

A quick dip in the fountain was called for (since Garin was all decked out in his 1920's bathing attire).

And some fun with Uncle Scott - smelling the flowers & practicing being tall.

Now spring break is coming to an end. But in just two weeks we have a trip to Austin! Yea!

Spring Break! Road Trip!

The boy wanted to go partying on the beach in Florida, but we told him he had to be at least 6 months old to do that - missed it by a week! damn!

He did still get to have some "babies gone wild" moments: showing some leg in the car seat and diaper-free when we had to change him in the back seat of the car at a gas station.

And he had fun on the king sized bed (which we figure would be about the same as an adult getting a bed the size of an entire large room). We didn't really take any pictures of Atlanta, except for this park where we took a walk. Which put the tired boy right to sleep.

Big Blue Eyes

We don't know where the boy got these blue eyes (recessive genes at work). We kept thinking they would change to brown but now we're not sure they will. We're off on an adventure to Atlanta for Monday and Tuesday (it's spring break!) so we'll try to get some pictures from there.
