Nashville New Years
We spent a week in Nashville for New Years. While Jess was working, Garin and I explored the city, trying to find all the locations from his book, "Pardon me, is that the Grand Old Opery?" in which a small mouse tours all the big locations in Nashville. Garin and I managed to find most of them:
The Parthenon:
Vanderbilt University:
Elliston Place Soda Shop:
Hillsboro Village:
The Bluebird Cafe:
The Farmer's Market:
Bicentennial Park:
The State Capitol:
The "Bat Building":
The Titans Stadium & Riverfront Park:
Fort Nashboro:
The Pancake Pantry: (Where we were actually seated at a table next to the Jonas Brothers, I just couldn't stand to look like a groupie and take photos with them in the background - they sat at that empty table in the background after I had already taken this photo; you'll just have to take our word for it.)
The Frist Museum:
The Country Music Hall of Fame:
AND - Ryman Auditorium (site of the Grand Old Opery):
Also - we all got new cowboy boots. (these are actually my two pairs)

Massive Blog Neglect!
Blame blog neglect on: travel over the holidays, start of a new semester for Jess, Mel's thesis, and Mel moving (to a house where I currently just "borrow" a neighbor's wireless so it is slow).
Yes, these are just excuses, but things have been very busy. Here are some December highlights to make up for lost time:
We spent Christmas in Myrtle Beach with the extended side of Jess' family.
He learned to fly a kite and sometimes tolerated the admiration of his cousin Julianne (though he refused to pose for a real photo with her).
Then - we bought a new house in Atlanta. (Yes, yes, we own more houses than is reasonable, but now we have a place to go in the real city and it was dirt cheap. And a place to rent to future generations of Smith MSW students who have to relocate as I have done for the past two years.)
And then it was off to Nashville for New Years. But that post update will have to wait b/c G. just woke up from his nap.
