Fishy Business Last Weekend

First, Garin read a book about fish at the library. Then, went out for sushi with Finn and his family. Garin and Finn were REALLY excited about the fish tank.

We were all very entertained by Finn's funny faces when he got cold water in his mouth.Garin got a little jealous and wanted to show off how he knows how to drink from a straw. That night we also found out the he likes miso soup, pickled ginger, wasabi soy sauce, and sushi (though he didn't get to try any with raw fish).

Christmas in July

Oh, wait, it's December. Hard to remember since it was 80 degree weather this weekend.

The park in the center of Charleston is full of these mini-Christmas trees, but it's also very distracting for Garin because there are so many people around playing with balls and he wants to play with them all. He's signing "ball" in the photo above, and then pretending he's throwing a ball here.

Ad Campaigns

Back when Garin was a super cutie-pie infant, we briefly considered looking into a modeling career but couldn't get past the feeling that we would be pimping out our son. Plus, we're so picky, we would only have let him model for causes/products we believed in. But this one, we could get behind:

There's nothing I like better when I get out of the bath
than a nice cool drink of water from my Sigg water bottle.

Family Photos

Wrapping up the Thanksgiving photo collection:

Garin and Nana reading one of his favorite books.

Garin telling Papa Curt that he's "sleepy" and wants "milk".

(We used to think "bed"/"sleepy" was the best sign he knew because it avoided tired melt-downs, but now that he also signs "potty", that's pretty damn handy too. Although he has learned to sign "potty" when he wants to get prompt action, like making us find a rest stop and get him out of the car.)

And just generally mugging for the camera.

mmmmmmm . . . PIE!

Although Garin fell asleep right before the actual Thanksgiving dinner . . .. . . he was quite happy to wake up and have leftovers. He especially loved the pumpkin pie.

If you look closely at all these photos, you can see him signing "please!" - he now omits the "more" sign and just goes right to "please!".

It's very hard to say no to him when he asks so politely.

Walking

Here's proof that the child can walk. (He's much better at it now, but these early attempts are just so cute, we had to post this one.)

Travelin' Man

We drove to Connecticut again for Thanksgiving. Here's what Garin thought of four days in the car.
